The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the long-awaited Aboabo Market complex in Tamale.
Mr Ayariga gave the assurance during a visit to the market, accompanied by the Northern Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, where they engaged market leaders and reassured traders of the government’s commitment to the project.

The visit has renewed hopes among traders for the completion of the market, which is expected to improve trading conditions, expand commercial opportunities and boost economic activities in the Tamale Metropolis.
In a statement following the visit, a local representative expressed profound appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for his vision and commitment to the development of Tamale, describing the renewed assurance as an important step towards improving market infrastructure and strengthening the local economy.

It further acknowledged the contributions of the Members of Parliament for Tamale South and Tamale Central, as well as traditional rulers, whose leadership and cooperation were described as vital to the metropolis’s development.
The statement noted that completing the Aboabo Market complex would provide traders with better working conditions, improve their livelihoods and help position Tamale as a major commercial hub in northern Ghana.
It added that the government remained committed to pursuing development initiatives that transform lives, create economic opportunities and secure a brighter future for residents of Tamale.
