Gushegu MCE supports persons with disabilities with livelihood items and cash

The Municipal Chief Executive for Gushegu, Adam Abdul-Hafiz, has distributed livelihood support items and cash assistance to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the municipality to promote economic empowerment and improve their living conditions.
The support, distributed on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, is aimed at equipping beneficiaries with the resources needed to establish businesses, generate income and become economically self-reliant.

The items included 90 small ruminants, two motorbikes, one bicycle, five deep freezers, two sets of barbering equipment and cash assistance.
The intervention is expected to enable beneficiaries to engage in various income-generating activities, including livestock rearing, barbering and other small-scale businesses, while improving their ability to provide for themselves and their families.
The initiative forms part of the Gushegu Municipal Assembly’s efforts to promote inclusive development and ensure that Persons with Disabilities have access to economic opportunities that enhance their independence, dignity and participation in community development.

The support is also expected to ease some of the financial challenges confronting beneficiaries, improve household incomes and strengthen their overall welfare.
Through the intervention, the Assembly seeks to empower Persons with Disabilities to contribute meaningfully to the local economy and participate actively in the development of the Gushegu Municipality.
