The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has presented a 33-seater Eicher bus to the Ghana Prisons Service on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.

The presentation, which took place at the Prisons Headquarters in Accra, forms part of government’s efforts to strengthen the logistical and transportation capacity of the Ghana Prisons Service and enhance its operational effectiveness.

The bus is expected to support the movement of officers and personnel as well as facilitate the Service’s various operational activities.

Speaking during the presentation, the Interior Minister said the gesture fulfils a commitment made by President Mahama during the commissioning of the Damongo Camp Prison.

He said the provision of the bus demonstrates the government’s commitment to addressing the logistical challenges confronting the Prisons Service and improving conditions under which personnel carry out their duties.

The Ghana Prisons Service is expected to put the vehicle to effective use in support of its mandate, including the safe custody, rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates.
