James Agalga officially assumes role as Majority Leader in Parliament
The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga, has officially assumed office as the Majority Leader in Parliament.
Mr. Agalga was formally introduced by the Speaker of Parliament on Monday, August 24, 2026, marking the beginning of his tenure as leader of government business in the House.
Following his introduction, the new Majority Leader expressed gratitude to President John Mahama, the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and his colleagues in the Majority Caucus for the confidence reposed in him.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Mr. Agalga said his immediate focus would be on advancing the government’s RESET Agenda and delivering on its promises to Ghanaians.
“I have today been formally introduced by the Speaker as Majority Leader to lead government business in Parliament,” he wrote.
He added: “We have a lot of work ahead of us to make the RESET Agenda a lived reality for every Ghanaian family.”
Mr. Agalga concluded by signalling his readiness to begin the task, saying, “The work begins now. Ghana will win. To God be the glory.”
His assumption of the Majority Leader position comes with the responsibility of coordinating government business on the floor of Parliament and working with the Majority Caucus to advance the government’s legislative agenda.
