The National Health Insurance Scheme’s (NHIS) Tamale South District Office management launched a ten (10) registration of fresh students at some selected Senior High Schools within the Tamale Metropolitan Area.
Beginning September 18, to October 2, 2026, the targeted schools included Ghana Senior High School (Ghanasco), Tamale Girls Senior High School (PagNaa), Ambariya Senior High School, Vittin Senior High School, Dabokpa Technical Institute, Business Senior High School (Bisco) and Lamashegu Vocational Training Institute.
The NHIS Tamale South District Manager, Basit Suhuyini Mohammed officially launched the outreach program at the Tamale Girls SHS in Wamale.
He said his administration has constantly been organizing the SHS registration since 2023, accelerating Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
According to him, the intervention was to ease the burden on the fresh students who are not NHIS members, in line with the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) mandatory requirement.
He urged the beneficiaries and the existing NHIS members to annually renew their membership.
