Police arrest suspect in Kumbungu over provocative TikTok video on late Mion Lana

The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Abdulai Mohammed Saani, in connection with a provocative TikTok video concerning the death of the late Mion Lana, Abdulai.

The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Abdulai Mohammed Saani, in connection with a provocative TikTok video concerning the death of the late Mion Lana, Abdulai.

According to the Police, the arrest followed the circulation of the video, which prompted the Regional Police Intelligence Department (PID), in collaboration with the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID), to commence intelligence-led investigations to identify the person behind its production and dissemination.

The Police said the suspect was identified and traced to Kumbungu, where he was arrested on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

He was subsequently conveyed to the Northern Regional Police Headquarters in Tamale to assist with investigations.

The Command said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the production and dissemination of the video, as well as to determine whether other persons were involved in the matter.

The Northern Regional Police Command has assured the public that it is closely monitoring developments and will take all lawful measures necessary to maintain peace and public order in the region.

The Police have also urged members of the public to refrain from creating, sharing or circulating unverified and provocative content that could create tension or disturb public peace.

The Command is encouraging the public to rely on verified information from the Police and other competent authorities regarding developments surrounding the death of the late Mion Lana, Abukari.

The Police have further assured the public that updates on the matter will be provided as investigations progress.
