Tamale: World Shea Expo 2026 Committee Pays Courtesy Call on NDA CEO

A select committee of the upcoming World Shea Expo 2026, comprising representatives from PIAA and SGTL, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority (NDA), Dr. Emmanuel Abeere-Inga, to formally invite the Authority to participate in this year's event.
The visit took place on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the NDA Accra Liaison Office.
The Committee also used the opportunity to brief the NDA CEO on the major innovations, planned activities and expectations for the 2026 World Shea Expo.

Addressing the Committee, Dr. Abeere-Inga commended the organisers for their initiative and resilience in overcoming the challenges associated with organising the Expo. He reaffirmed the NDA's commitment to supporting the event and assured the Committee of enhanced support from the Authority.
The NDA CEO further proposed that an impact assessment of previous editions of the Expo should be conducted to measure their outcomes and help inform improvements for future editions.
Among the key highlights of this year's World Shea Expo are a symbolic shea tree planting exercise by the Vice President to demonstrate that shea can be cultivated and not only harvested from the wild, as well as a participatory tree planting exercise involving CEOs of partner agencies.
The Expo will also feature the establishment of a 30-acre shea plantation as a legacy project, a field visit to the Nut for Growth Factory, the launch of the Youth in Shea Innovation Initiative and the presentation of institutionally sponsored Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to women shea pickers.
The organisers are also introducing a more interactive format for the second and third days of the Expo, with fewer lengthy presentations, while approximately 120 exhibitors are expected to participate.
As a key partner, the Committee expects the NDA to make a presentation on a preferred thematic area and participate in one or more panel discussion sessions.
The Authority is also expected to sustain its initiative of providing exhibition opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), as was done during the previous edition.
The Committee further requested the allocation of six complimentary exhibition booths to the NDA, with five distributed among the regions and one reserved for corporate branding and exhibition.
Other expectations include financial and logistical support from the Authority and consideration of the provision of tricycles as a support intervention for women working within the shea value chain.
The World Shea Expo 2026 is expected to bring together stakeholders and industry players to promote innovation, investment and sustainable development within Ghana's shea value chain.
