Berekum City Crowned Champions of Inaugural Northern Elite Invitational Cup

Berekum City have emerged champions of the maiden edition of the Northern Elite Invitational Cup after an impressive showing at the tournament held at the Nobisco Field in Tamale.
The competition, which served as a pre-season tournament for clubs preparing for the upcoming Division One League season, officially began on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and concluded today, Saturday, August 22.
Berekum City from Bolgatanga finished top of the competition to lift the inaugural trophy after competing against five other clubs from across the northern sector of the country.

The tournament brought together six clubs, namely Berekum City, Steadfast FC and Northern City from Tamale, Sankara Nationals from Yendi, Wa Powers FC from Wa, and Yapei United from Buipe.
The competition provided the participating clubs with an important opportunity to assess their squads, test new players and fine-tune their preparations ahead of the new Division One League campaign.
The successful organisation of the maiden Northern Elite Invitational Cup is also expected to provide a platform for clubs in the northern part of the country to gain valuable competitive exposure during the pre-season period.
With Berekum City taking the inaugural crown, attention will now turn to the upcoming league season as the participating teams continue their preparations for the challenges ahead.
