Finance Minister Announces Release of third-quarter DACF in Tamale

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced the release of the third-quarter District Assemblies Common Fund to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the country.
Dr. Ato Forson made the announcement in Tamale during a meeting with Regional Ministers, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, and Coordinating Directors on strengthening financial accountability across Ghana’s local government system.
He said the release of the third-quarter allocation means government is now fully up to date with the District Assemblies Common Fund, with all three quarters paid.

According to the Finance Minister, the development marks a significant shift from previous arrangements and demonstrates government’s commitment to ensuring timely releases of funds to local assemblies.
He said regular and predictable releases of the Common Fund would enable MMDAs to effectively plan and implement development programmes while improving service delivery to communities.
Dr. Ato Forson further stressed the need for Regional Ministers, MMDCEs and Coordinating Directors to ensure prudent management and accountability in the use of public funds.
He said government remains committed to strengthening local governance and ensuring that financial resources allocated to MMDAs are released on time and used to deliver meaningful development.
