RTU mourns late Tolon Naa Major Abubakari Sulemana
Real Tamale United (RTU) has paid a glowing tribute to the late Tolon Naa Major (RTD) Abubakari Sulemana, describing him as a true friend, leader, benefactor and ardent supporter of the club.
In a tribute following his passing, the Northern Region-based football club said it was deeply saddened by the death of the distinguished traditional leader, whom it described as a committed supporter of the development of Northern Ghana and a man who stood firmly behind RTU.
According to the club, Tolon Naa Major Abubakari Sulemana was more than just a supporter, as he strongly believed in the vision and significance of Real Tamale United to the people of Northern Ghana.
RTU particularly recalled the immense support he offered the team during its recent playoff campaign, describing his generosity and commitment as invaluable at a critical period in the club's journey.
The club said the late Tolon Naa opened his doors to the team, accommodated its members and provided every possible support within his means, giving the players and technical team the comfort and confidence to concentrate on the task ahead.
“His generosity, warmth and commitment gave us not only comfort but also the confidence to focus on the task before us,” the club said in its tribute.
Beyond football, RTU noted that the late traditional leader made significant contributions towards the growth and development of the Northern Region, driven by his love for his people and his desire to see the region progress.
The club said he understood the importance of supporting institutions, young people and initiatives capable of creating opportunities and bringing pride to Northern Ghana.
“For Real Tamale United, we have lost not just a supporter, but a friend, a benefactor and a true son of the North,” the statement said.
RTU added that the kindness, humility and generosity of the late Tolon Naa Major Abubakari Sulemana would forever remain part of the history and memories of the club.
The club extended its deepest condolences to the family of the late chief, the people of Tolon, the traditional leadership and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
Real Tamale United prayed for Almighty Allah to grant Tolon Naa Major (RTD) Abubakari Sulemana eternal rest and give his family and loved ones the strength to bear the great loss.
